Why is FibreNet an interesting project for you? Working with an interdisciplinary group of experts in the field of fibre and fibre-based materials from both academia and industry and training young researchers are the most interesting parts of this project for me. Besides the scientific aspect of the project, I truly enjoy working with a group of international, open-minded and collaborative professionals.

 

 

 

Where were you born/ where have you lived as a child?

I was born and lived in Tehran, the capital of Iran, before I moved to the Netherlands for my Ph.D.

Hobbies:

Hiking, playing piano, cooking, video games and from time to time skiing and ice skating.

Tell something about yourself, which other FibreNet people might not know yet?

I used to be a professional mountaineer. The mountain peaks of the Netherlands put an end to my climbing.

What do you like most in your current work?

Mentoring students, teaching, the flexibility to pursue my own research interests, and the intellectual challenge.

What has been the hardest decision you have made during the last years?

My career path, to choose between industry and academia. I am very satisfied with the decision I made at the end.
