Event 5, 5.-9.10.2020

NWTE5

The 5th network-wide training event (NWTE5) titled  Applications and manufacturing processes of bio-based fibre products was organized by Kemira and Tampere University (Finland) on 5th – 9th October 2020. Due to the restrictions upon the COVID-19 situation, the format of the event needed to be changed from face-to-face to online.

The goal was to organize an industry-oriented event that includes from-the-idea-to-industrialization type of descriptions with the objective to better understand the needs, challenges and business aspects in different bio-based fibre products. The main part of the event was a seminar including presentations from the beneficiary companies and all the partner organizations in addition to the talks from the ESRs. In order to strengthen the dissemination of the results in the consortium, the seminar was made open for the employees of the consortium members. The on-line format of the event provided thus a convenient opportunity for a wider audience inside the consortium to follow the presentations. In addition to the industrial partners of the consortium, two spin-off companies in the field of bio-based fibres were invited to give a presentation. Also the training parts of the program were built around the event theme including such topics as commercialization, IPR protection, product safety regulation and entrepreneurship.

The final program:

For the ESRs
For other participants (check also the ESR names and topics for the presentations)

All the material from the event including the presentation slides and recordings from the sessions are available for the FibreNet consortium members at the project's wiki-area.

The event was suprisingly well received despite the late change to an online meeting with reduced amount of interaction and networking among participants. In the feedback collected from the consortium, the usefulness to participants and implementation of the event were graded high (average grade 4.20/5). Also the presentations by ESRs, supervisory team meetings and talks provided by companies and other partner organizations were appreciated (average grade 4.22/5). The transferable skills training offered to the ESRs got average grade of 3.99/5.

Thank you to all of you who participated our event!

Hopefully we can meet in person next time!
